In brief, I believe that organizations must deal with the implications of the rise of knowledge work. Much of current organizational design and management practice is based an outdated notion: executives have the answers to organization, stakeholder, and customer problems; staffers implement solutions based on executive instructions. In my view, this notion is no longer sufficient. Executives in every industry now face the choice between management and leadership. So, I work with organizations and executives to develop leadership practices aimed at engaging the strengths that people want to contribute to the organization.
